Situated on a lot with incredible views and an existing split-level home, this project consists of a new garage with an accessory dwelling unit above. The lot is fairly narrow, necessitating the placement of the new structure very close to the existing house. The new porch on the 1972 house (completed prior to the garage and ADU) brought a more modern and northwestern aesthetic to the house. The exposed beams are echoed in the new structure, with other matching elements to make the two structures cohesive.

The interior of the ADU is oriented toward an aspen grove to the east and the mountain views to the south and west. The window placements maximize the connection to nature while limiting views into the backyard of the home.
