I managed this project during my work at Syndicate Smith, LLC. The clients were looking for a balance of cost and quality- the home was kept small while still serving all the needs of the owners, and they built the home themselves from the foundation formwork to trim and decking, including impromptu wall raisings that included friends passing through the neighborhood. The design and construction methods are simple, allowing the style, attention to detail, and hard work of the owners to shine through and create a unique space. The ground level consists of a garage, utility spaces, living room, and generous kitchen with a layout for entertaining. The second floor provides four bedrooms, two bathrooms, and a small family room. Decks on all sides provide nearly year-round outdoor living.
